Coffee County SS4A:
Safe Streets and Roads for All
Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A)Â is a discretionary grant program established under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). Administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation, SS4A supports surface transportation initiatives aimed at enhancing roadway safety across the country.
In 2026, Coffee County was awarded an SS4A grant to create a comprehensive Safety Action Plan.

WHY THIS MATTERS
Between 2021 and 2025, 1801 crashes occurred on public roadways in Coffee County. These crashes resulted in 29 fatal crashes, 132 suspected serious injury crashes, 215 non-incapacitating injury crashes, and 150 possible injury crashes. In addition, there were 1262 property damage-only crashes and 13 crashes of unknown severity reported.
THE GOAL:
The SS4A program seeks to dramatically reduce and/or eliminate fatalities and serious injuries on our roadways. It promotes the development and implementation of Action Plans that prioritize safety for all road users, including pedestrians, cyclists, transit riders, motorists, and commercial drivers. This initiative is rooted in collaboration and data-driven strategies to make transportation safer for everyone.​
